Individual Therapy for Youth
I've gathered considerable experience working with youth over the years and I am comfortable working with young people on a wide variety of issues. I draw my therapeutic approach primarily from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and interpersonal therapy (IPT). To those core elements I also draw on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) when they suit my clients' needs.

Some areas that I have experience working on with youth include:
-
developing skills to manage anxiety
-
working through depression
-
processing trauma
-
handling stress and perfectionism
-
dealing with grief and loss
-
adjusting to chronic health conditions
-
improving emotion regulation
-
harmonizing relationships
-
developing motivation
Individual Therapy for Adults
Life is long and full of challenges. We all have times when we feel lost, out of touch with the person we want to be, or worn down as we face all that life throws at us. As we navigate these challenges and move towards the lives we want its important to remember that we can access joy, peace, and rich daily satisfaction along the way.

Some areas that I have experience working on with adults include:
-
coping with daily challenges
-
living life based on values
-
handling stress and anxiety
-
working through depression
-
feeling positive about parenting
-
processing trauma
-
dealing with grief and loss
-
adjusting to chronic health conditions
-
improving emotion regulation
-
harmonizing relationships
Family Therapy
Sometimes issues are best addressed through the family system as opposed to through one individual's experience. It can be liberating to find ways to address problems openly, honestly, and directly with family members in family therapy.

Some issues that may be addressed well in family therapy include:
-
improving communication within the family
-
handling conflict between family members
-
dealing with change
-
coping with daily challenges
-
adjusting to chronic health conditions
-
parenting differences
-
processing family histories
-
harmonizing relationships

Although psychological services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), most extended health plans cover all or some of the cost of services provided by licensed practitioners. Any portion of the fee not reimbursed by your insurance provider can be claimed as a medical health expense on your income tax return.

I will provide you with a receipt for each session which can be submitted to your insurer for reimbursement. It is recommended that you contact your insurer in advance to determine the amount covered and any procedural requirement (e.g., some insurance companies require a physician’s referral for psychological services).

My fees are based on the recommended guidelines of the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA) and vary depending on the type of service requested. Please contact me to discuss current rates. Payment is due at the end of each session via email transfer.
